UW-Eau Claire geology faculty members and students presented at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in Denver, Colo. UW-Eau Claire student Jessica Meyers gave a poster presentation titled "Geochemical Characterization and Geochronology of the Paleozoic Mount Attree Volcanic Complex, Terrace, British Columbia," which was co-authored by Dr. Geoffrey Pignotta, Dr. Richard Friedman (University of British Columbia) and Dr. J. Brian Mahoney. Pignotta gave a talk titled "Magma to Mylonite: Coeval Volcanism, Plutonism, Vertical Displacement and Regional Deformation in the Central Sierra Nevada Batholith," which was co-authored by Dr. Andrew Barth (Indiana University-Purdue University) and Dr. Joseph Wooden (Stanford University). UW-Eau Claire student Giselle Conde gave a poster presentation titled "Effects of Low-Temperature Hydrous Alteration on the Chemistry of Natural Obsidian from the Near East," which was co-authored by Dr. Ellery Frahm (University of Minnesota) and Dr. Phillip Ihinger.
